A drug dealer from Poplar has been jailed after police found more than £300,000 worth of drugs in his possession, including large quantities of crystal meth.
Richard Lubbock, 63, was sentenced to eight years in prison on Friday at Isleworth Crown Court, having been found guilty of five counts of possession with intent to supply.
Lubbock was caught last December when police searched a penthouse flat in Commercial Road and discovered the drugs, which included £127,000 worth of Class A substance Methamphetamine, also known as crystal meth.
They also discovered £25,640 worth of Cocaine, nearly £64,000 worth of amphetamine, alongside significant amounts of ketamine, fluoroamphetamine and ‘skunk’ cannabis.

According to a police statement, officers found the drugs ‘scattered around’ the property, with some stored in filing cabinets and inside the kitchen freezer. A large quantity of cash was also seized.
Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Richard George described the findings as ‘a significant haul of drugs,’ and noted the ‘seriousness’ of Lubbock’s offences.
Detective Chief Superintendent Paul Rickett, Tower Hamlets Borough Commander, said: “Lubbock’s sentence sends out a clear message that we will not tolerate the production and selling of drugs in this borough and will robustly pursue anyone involved in this type of crime.”

Addressing the discovery of significant quantities of methamphetamine, he added: “Whilst there is not a specific problem with Crystal meth in Tower Hamlets and this is an isolated case, it should be pointed out that the use of crystal meth poses real dangers. It is a lethal drug and its impact should not be underestimated.”
“The arrest of Lubbock deals a significant blow to the supply chain of crystal meth, not only in Tower Hamlets, but across London. The prompt and professional action taken by the arresting officers means a prolific Class A drug dealer is now off the streets and behind bars.”

Why Go From Coins and Gold to Drugs?
Lubbock's used to have a shop at the very prestigious address of 315 315 Regent Street London, W1R 7YB.
We have no idea why somebody who had inherited a successful business as a coin dealers would stoop to drug dealing instead. Perhaps one day we will get the opportunity to ask.

BNTA Members, Ethics, & Failures
Although now an ex-member, it appears Richard, who inherited his business from his father Reg, has moved into the big league as a alleged methamphetamine dealer, the biggest in the UK. We seem to remember that Lubbock's were one of the founder members of the BNTA, and a council member if our memory serves correctly.
