2007 Chinese Culture Five-Coin Gold Proof Set
In 1995 the People's Bank of China issued a series of gold coins to celebrate the diversity of Chinese Culture. This set of 1995 coins was issued by The Royal Mint, in 2007.

Misleading Mintage Figures

The Royal Mint packaging is misleading. What's even more misleading is the certificate, stating "A Limited Issue of Just One Hundred Sets". It then continues on the next page to add "Assembled Exclusively for the Royal Mint". In fact 25,000 of the sets were minted in 1995, however it looks like The Royal Mint have bought some in and remarketed them in 2007. The certificate makes it sound like there are only 100 sets worldwide, not the 25,000 that were minted.

Other sellers are marketing these sets on eBay and do not mention the remarketing by The Royal Mint. In our opinion the dealers describing them are deliberately misleading the customer. In our opinion this is a dishonest practice of which we do not approve.

Save Over £161,000 Compared to eBay!

We are used to seeing misleading descriptions on eBay, so we weren't surprised to find a seller describing the set as the " rarest Chinese gold coin set (for coins under 5 oz in size) There are perhaps ten maybe as many as twenty complete sets worldwide". They were offering the set for a whopping US $250,000.00 (about £163,750!).

Design

The reverse of the coins feature different Chinese symbols and traditions. The obverse shows the Great Wall of China.

Presentation Packaging
The coins come in a presentation case. Each of the coins has a certificate and the set comes with an informational booklet.
