1874 to 1901 Sweden Three coin 20 Kronor London Mint Office WWII Rescued Scandinavian Gold Set

Sweden Gold Coin Uncirculated Set

Issued by the London Mint Office these were the gold coins of the rescued Scandinavian World War Two Gold Reserves.

In June 1988 the Norwegian Treasury sold a group of 100,484 gold coins of Norway, Sweden and Finland as a single collection for a world record $18,000,000. The coins, dated between 1873 to 1926, had been part of Norway's national gold reserves for some time, almost since the time they were issued.
These coins come with a remarkable historic secret - they were the coins that had been rescued by the Norwegian resistance fighters as the Nazis marched through the streets of Oslo and conveyed to two waiting Royal Navy ships where they undertook a perilous journey across the North Sea to be held in safety, in Britain, until the war had ended.

The coins come in a striking mahogony presentation box along with a Gold 20 Kronor Set Certificate to show proof of ownership and quality.
