Bid or Buy Z.A. Members & Copyright Theft
Many auction site members, including dealers continually infringe our IP (Intellectual Property) rights by using our copyright images. It's usually eBay, because they are the biggest, but other sites are not immune from the plague. We invest considerable time and money in our photographs, and do not appreciate their misappropriation by Bid or Buy Z.A. (BoB) members or others, especially when they are using our effort to compete with us.
pta_collectors, of Pretoria / Tshwane, South Africa, stole our 2009 Gold Krugerrand photograph to use on BoB, and omitted to tell buyers that the image was not of the coin he was selling. Totally dishonest!

1 oz PROOF KRUGERANDS
1 oz PROOF KRUGERANDS
Packaged in SA Mint box or retangular SAGCE Capsule
Since their introduction in 1967 only 100,000 plus Proof Krugerrands have been minted which makes them very scarce and of the most famous coin in the world.
Mintages have fluctuated from a low of 1,000 plus to 16,000 which has not been fully appreciated. In time, their rarity will translate into strong price appreciation.
Uncirculated (bullion) Krugerrand coins have 180 serrations while Proof Krugerrand coins have 220 serrations.
Indicative Market Price R12,800.00

What's Wrong?
We invest a great deal of time, effort, and cost into creating some of the best photographic coin images on the internet. We strongly object when lazy and dishonest people decide to use them without a by your leave or thanks, doing so in competition with us.
Copyright theft is dishonest. We recommend you avoid doing business with dishonest dealers.
This particular BoB seller not only stole our image of the both obverse and reverse of a 1974 Gold Krugerrand, he used it to try to sell his own coins on BoB. He did not seem to think it was worth mentioning to potential buyers that the high quality photographs of near mint condition coins were not his own photographs, and not the same coins as he was offering for sale. This is dishonest and almost certainly illegal, although it appears to happen on a daily basis on internet auction sites including BoB.
It's possible he is ignorant of such fine points, or just plain ignorant.
As it happens, NDTSA did not steal the image directly from our own websites, but indirectly, probably from a site with the grand sounding title Krugerrand Gold Coins (krugerrandgoldcoins.com), although they in turn may have stolen it from yet another site.
It is always possible, even likely, that sellers who steal photographs do not own a similar coin, and have the intention to totally defraud potential buyers.
The vendor is not only cheating us by stealing our copyright images, he is fraudulently or ignorantly misleading and deceiving all potential buyers. Gaining pecuniary advantage by deception is the definition of fraud.

Feedback
BoB uses a members feedback system similar to that used by eBay. When we created this page NDTSA had no feedback (0), according to Bid or Buy.

Price
The seller was asking a starting price of ZAR 12,000 each for his coins!
It sounds expensive to us, so this dealer is not only lazy and dishonest, but greedy too!
He also claimed he had 100 available, which would be 1.2 million rands worth, and as he had 2 near identical listings, 2.4 million rands worth. We don't believe him. One common problem with internet auction and sale listing sites is the lack of checks on new and existing members, and the anonymity these sites provide for all sorts of crooks and conmen.

Copyright Thieves on Bid or Buy Z.A.
We already have a page naming and shaming dealers using our images without permission. It's time we did the same for Bid or Buy Z.A., although if we include them all, this could be a very long page.
