eBay Cheats & Copyright Thieves
mangjean in eBay Copyright Theft
mangjean of Malta, stole our 1974 Iceland Gold Proof 10,000 Kronur Obverse & Reverse Photographs to use on eBay, and failed to tell buyers it was not the same coin he was selling. Totally dishonest.

High eBay Feedback is No Guarantee of Integrity or Honesty
When we wrote this page, this eBay member's feedback was 21, with 100% positive, according to eBay.

eBay Copyright Thieves
Many eBay vendors use our coin photographs to sell inferior quality coins on eBay. These eBay members are dishonest and should be avoided.
We believe eBay profits from IP rights infringements (copyright theft), and does so knowingly, only removing infringing items reluctantly, if at all.

What's Wrong?
We invest a great deal of time, effort, and cost into creating some of the best photographic coin images on the internet. We strongly object when lazy and dishonest people decide to use them without a by your leave or thanks, doing so in competition with us.
Copyright theft is dishonest. We recommend you avoid doing business with dishonest dealers.
This particular eBay seller not only stole our high quality 1974 Iceland Gold Proof 10,000 Kronur Obverse & Reverse Photographs, he used them to try to sell his own gold coin on eBay. He did not mention to potential buyers that the high quality photographs of the coin were not his own photographs.
It's possible he is ignorant of such fine points, or just plain ignorant.
It is always possible, even likely, that sellers who steal photographs do not own a similar item, and have the intention to totally defraud potential buyers.
The vendor is not only cheating us by stealing our copyright images, he is fraudulently or ignorantly misleading and deceiving all potential buyers. Gaining pecuniary advantage by deception is the definition of fraud.

How Much? - How Stupid!
We think this particular seller is somewhat moronic.
At the time his item sold, its intrinsic gold content was about $550, and he sold it at $400! Out of this, he would have to pay eBay about 10% or $40 in commission, plus possibly some PayPal charges, so he might be lucky to come out with $350 nett. We would have snatched his hand off and his arm off at $500.
Why do so many people think they will get the best price or the best deal in an auction, or on eBay?
Although this is a semi-rhetorical question, it is something which genuinely puzzles us.
Our web page also states the gold content, and we have live spot gold prices on our site, so it would have been child's play to work out the actual value of the coin.

Price
The seller was asking a price of $400 (about £269).

What Denomination?
The idiot also described his coin as a 10,000tiu, If he had read our web page, (the same one from which he stole our photographs), he would have learnt that it was a 10,000 Kronur (ten thousand Kroners). If he possessed a brain, and utilised it, he could have worked out that TIU PUSUND is Icelandic for ten thousand, but that's probably asking too much for an eBay seller.

eBay Guilty of Negligence or Complicity

We look forward to taking legal action against eBay for their negligence and / or complicity if they fail to take down the offending material promptly.

We already have a page naming and shaming dealers using our images without permission. It's time we did the same for eBay, although if we include them all, this could be a very long page.
