eBay Copyright Thief 'lifesaver9990'
Yet another repeat eBay copyright thief, using our sovereign photographs, not only dishonest enough to steal our pictures, but to lie about it, and libel us too.

This eBay member, has stolen our 1982 sovereign images to use for his own eBay auctions at least twice. We first spotted some of his listings in June 2008, and reported them to eBay's VeRO department. They removed them, but apparently made no effort to warn him about his dishonest behaviour, and that Intellectual Property Rights Infringement (copyright abuse), is a serious legal matter. If they did give him any warning, it must not have been sufficiently clear, or strongly enough worded, because now on 13th June 2008, he has repeated the offence, and we will be reporting it again.

Misleading?
It is our guess that if an eBay member is dishonest enough to steal images, then it is more likely than usual for him to be offering non-existent goods, and be attempted to defraud other innocent eBay members. We have also communicated this to eBay on numerous occasions, with no acknowledgement, and apparently no interest or action.
In any case, our high quality photographs, of a specially selected coin, may lead his potential buyers to believe the coin they receive will be the one in his listing. The actual coin they receive is likely to be in slightly lower grade.
In actual fact, the photographs which he states to be of a 1982 half sovereign, are actually of the reverse of a 1982 full sovereign, and the obverse of a 1979 sovereign. The definition and striking quality tend to be better on sovereigns than on half sovereigns, because the larger sized coin reproduces better.

Is This Guy Totally Stupid or Does He Think We Are?
As often happens with eBay copyright thieves, as if it is not bad enough for them to steal our images, they then go on to vehemently deny it, and start getting stroppy.
Shortly after the second item we reported was removed on 12th June, we received an e-mail from him:-

i have asked E-BAY to check out what you have said and also asked them to take note that THESE were my own Photos taken with my own hand.
NO copyright has been breached and i am upset that this should be thought. The 1914 and 1982 coins are mine in the scan shots photos and have been touched with Widows Photo Suite. Your comments please rather than redirection to a site that is not applicable

What a Stroppy Git!
Perhaps we are getting a bit old-fashioned, and not used to this modern world of "anything goes that get what you want", in which its possible to lie on your C.V. and still win a top job on "The Apprentice", but we think when thieves get caught, they should not be able to demand an explanation from society, it should be their responsibility to make amends, apologise, and maybe offer some compensation. No, it seems we are quite wrong, and copyright thieves are entitled to expect us to drop what we are doing in order to provide them with a personal and detailed explanation.
If we do send a detailed explanation, it will be accompanied by a request for at least £400 (£100 per image per use), and followed up by a solicitors letter for double the amount plus costs, or face court action.

We not this eBay member has a 99.8% Positive Feedback, which on the face of it is quite impressive. IT all goes to show that high eBay feedback is not guarantee of honesty.
