It appears to be one of the recent plague of pseudo-expert websites pretending to give independent advice, but in fact plagiarising existing sites without adding any significant content.

Die bekannteste Goldanlagemünze der Welt ist der umgangssprachlich genannte Krügerrand, der allerdings in den meisten Ländern Krugerrand ausgesprochen wird. Im Jahr 1967 gab die Rand Refinery Prägeanstalt in Südafrika die Krügerrand Münze mit einer 1 Unze Feingewicht auf den Markt. Ab 1980 gab es die 22 karätige Analagemünze auch in einer halben, viertel und zehntel Unze. Benannt ist die nach dem Präsidenten von Transvall, Paul Kruger, und der Region "Witwatersrand", dort wurde zum ersten Mal 1886 Gold gefunden.
Das Münzbild hat sich seit Herausgabejahr nicht verändert. Auf der Vorderseite befindet sich der Präsident von Transvall, Paul Kruger, und dem Schriftzug "Südafrika" - South Africa". Auf der Rückseite ist eine Antilope abgebildet. Außerdem sind auf der Münze Prägejahr und die Inschrift "Fyngoud 1 OZ Fine Gold" abgebildet. Einen Nennwert gibt es auf dem Krugerrand nicht. Der eigentliche Nennwert wird tagesaktuell in der Goldfixing in London ermittelt. Allerdings gilt die Anlagemünze in Südafrika als offizielles Währungsmittel.
Seit dem ersten Prägejahr 1967 erlitt die Krugerrand Münze einige turbulente Zeiten. Noch im Jahr 1978 erreichte die Goldanlagemünze ein prächtiges Produktionshoch von rund 6 Millionen 1 Unze Krugerrand Münzen. Dann kam es auf Druck der USA in Europa zu einem Boykott aller südafrikanischen Produkte. In allen europäischen Ländern war die Einfuhr der Krugerrand untersagt. Allerdings nicht der Handel und so nutzten zahlreiche Schweizer Banken die Verunsicherung der Anleger und tauschten die scheinbar wertlosen südafrikanischen Münzen gegen die kanadische Maple Leaf. Das brachte wiederrum ein Produktionshoch für die kanadische Prägeanstalt und ein Rekordtief für den Krugerrand. Gerade mal 8.285 südafrikanische Münzen wurden 1995 geprägt. Von diesem Einbruch konnte sich der Krugerrand bis jetzt nicht ganz erholen. Erst im Jahr 1999 wurde der Importstopp aufgebhoben.
Doch die Krügerrand Münze bleibt auf dem Anlagemarkt attraktiv, denn sie hat nur 5% Aufpreis auf den Materialwert.
Die Krügerrand Münze wird in der Prägestätte Pretoria Mint (South African Mint Company) geprägt und die Rand Rifinery in Südafrika liefert die Rohlinge und vertreibt die Münzen.
Proof Version
&& Die Proof Version des Krügerrandes wird nur in geringer Auflage geprägt. Es gibt wesentliche Unterschiede zu der Krügerrand Münze. So weist die Proof Krügerrand eine polierte Ronde, sowie eine polierten Stempel und seit 1977 sind 220 statt 180 Kerben im Münzrand. Außerdem sind die Büste und die des Steinbockes mattiert. Die Sammlermünze gibt ebenfalls im Prestige Proof und im Proof Set in 1, 1/2, 1/4 und 1/10 Unzen. Die Prestige Version ist der Nachfolger des klassischen Sets, dassvon 1986 bis 1995 verausgabt wurde. Die 1996 neu heraus gegebene Ausgabe ist in einer edlen Holzbox mit Samteinlage erhältlich.
Krugerrand 40th Anniversary Münze
Aufgrund des 40. Jährigen Jubiläum im Jahr 2007 gab die SA Mint 40 Krügerrand Münzen mit einem Feingewicht von einem Kilo heraus und 24 Karat heraus. Unterschiede im Münzbild sind das Prägejahre, links 1968, rechts 2007, zudem die Prägung "1 Kg Fine Gold" und der Schriftzug 40th Anniversary Münze. Der Ausgabepreis der inzwischen ausverkauften Sonderedition betrug rund 30.000 Euro.
