Mostly the gold bars we sell are intended purely as an investment in gold, and we do not guarantee to supply any specific make of bar, however we get many requests for specific makes or styles of bar for gifts or collectors, and so we try to provide these as an extra service. One of the most frequent requests we get is for Rothschild gold bars.
Even before Rothschild quit the gold market, we were often asked for Rothschilds gold bars by name, for collectors, and we do not see many.

Dual Marked Bars
Most gold bars bear the name of a single maker or refiner. A small number bear the marks of two different companies. In these cases, we presume that one of the companies has made the bar under contract for the other company. Sometimes the two companies are both refiners, in which case the practice may be related to production capacities or other practical considerations. In other cases, one is the refiner, and the other is a better known bank.

First Banking Corporation of Tangier
We can find little information about the First Banking Corporation as evidenced on these unusual coins or bars. It is clear that they were issued in its name.

Coins or Bars?
These are shown in Krause's World Gold Coins as 1954 Morocco 500 Dirham coins, and we have no reason to doubt this status.

Obverse
Naked, standing figure of Hercules, holding a robe over his left arm, and leaning on a club.
The legend (inscription) reads:
FIRST BANKING CORPORATION TANGIER

Reverse
The words REFINED BY above a circular Rothschild stamp:
N.M. ROTHSCHILD & SONS, with
R.M.R. (for Royal Mint Refinery) in its inner circle.
The legend around the outside reads:
ONE FINE OUNCE TROY (GRMS 31.103) OF GOLD ASSAY 916.7

Edge
The edge is miiled, and the coin is 4.25 mms thick.
