John Doe (chuckchuckbobuck.jimdo.com) & Copyright Theft
John Doe (chuckchuckbobuck.jimdo.com) of Musterstadt, Germany is yet another dishonest dealer who has used our copyright images without permission.

Copyright Theft is Dishonest - Can You Trust This Dealer?
Using other people's copyright images is illegal, it is dishonest, and it is unethical. Using the hard work of a fellow dealer to sell the same goods in competition with him demonstrates an extremely low standard of ethics. We would not recommend anybody to transact business with this person or company.

What's Wrong?
KJC Coins are using a copy of our 1879 Victoria Young Head St. George Reverse Melbourne Mint sovereign on at least two of their web pages, including their front (index) page, and the "Daily Metal Prices" page shown here.

Thu 01 Oct 2009 All About British Gold Coins
All About British Gold Coins
Among the most well-known lines of gold coins around the world is British Sovereign. With an exciting and distinct history, British sovereigns are very sought-after by numismatists and collectors. And Sovereigns minted in more recent years are of big interest to investors.
These British Gold Coins began being produced in 1489 by King Henry the Seventh. But their primary use was as official bullion and not general circulation, so there is no marked face value on the coins.
The original Sovereign coins consisted of twenty-three karat gold, which is ninety six percent pure, and contained 15.6 grams of gold, or a half-troy oz. When Henry the Eight was ruler, their purity was reduced to twenty two carats(92% purity), that created a new standard of what is referred to these days as "crown gold", a standard still commonly used today in Britain and the USA.
It is obvious that the nominal value is not related to their real price in in this day and age. Gold Sovereigns were widely produced until the First World War broke out, at which time the UK pound was taken off of the gold standard.Up until '32, Gold Sovereigns were minted strictly at local mints in some commonwealth countries, specifically in South Africa, Canada, Australia, and India.Production was halted until '57.
Starting in 1957 Sovereigns were once again produced, to maintain the integrity of the Sovereign amidst widespread counterfitting abroad.
Up until '82, Soveregin British gold coins were produced as standard bullion, but between '82 and '99 were released strictly as proof coins for collectors. Ever since 2000, Sovereign gold coins are again being produced as standard bullion, with value determined primarily by weight in gold.
As I said before, British Gold Sovereign coins have a nominal value. However, their real value is decided by both the market price at the moment of their gold content as well as very fluid numismatic value, which varies massively depending on the specific coin and how much demand there is.
Gold coins minted recently should in theorybe valued at around the market value of their weight plus a minimal premium, but collectible Sovereigns from the past can be worth a lot more. Because of this history of reminting, old British gold coins often have extraordinary numismatic value because of their rarity.
Numismatists love them and they have tremendous meaning to collectors based on their historical and cultural heritage.. But old British sovereigns are likely not suitable for people who just want to invest in gold not collect it. Recently minted Sovereigns would make a better choice for those people.
However, even if you are buying as an investor, one possible downside of these British gold coins is their uneven gold content that measures 7.322 grams, and is not written on the coin. This could make Sovereigns less liquid than a 1 oz. They can be sold to bullion dealers, because they will be familiar with them. But if there is ever some catastrophe and you need immediate access to money to make daily transaction, UK Sovereigns may not be widely saleable. Have some other standard weighted coins as well.
