eBay Cheats & Copyright Thieves
chantellemoneygenerator in eBay Copyright Theft
chantellemoneygenerator of Chorley, Lancashire, United Kingdom, stole our 1839 Una and the Lion Gold Five Pounds Pattern photographs to use on eBay, and failed to tell buyers they was not the same coins she was selling. Totally dishonest.

High eBay Feedback is No Guarantee of Integrity or Honesty
When we wrote this page, this eBay member's feedback was 14 with 100% positive according to eBay.

eBay Copyright Thieves
Many eBay vendors use our coin photographs to sell inferior quality coins on eBay. These eBay members are dishonest and should be avoided.
We believe eBay profits from IP rights infringements (copyright theft), and does so knowingly, only removing infringing items reluctantly, if at all.

Sample Listing

1839 Una & The Lion Gold £5
An extreamley (sic) fascinating coin arty fact (sic) coin on sale here! It was passed down to me from my grandfather and he was very passionate about the coin and adored its beauty. I however have no appeal for coins (sic) , thus the reason for putting it up for auction for it to be won by a coin fanatic and appreciate its magnificent history.

What's Wrong?
We invest a great deal of time, effort, and cost into creating some of the best photographic coin images on the internet. We strongly object when lazy and dishonest people decide to use them without a by your leave or thanks, doing so in competition with us.
Copyright theft is dishonest. We recommend you avoid doing business with dishonest dealers.
This particular eBay seller not only stole our images of our 1839 Una and the Lion Gold Five Pounds Pattern, she used it to sell her own coin on eBay. She did not mention to potential buyers that the high quality photographs of a mint condition coin was not her own photograph.
It's possible she is ignorant of such fine points, or just plain ignorant.
He or she titled it as a proof coin, used our photo of an uncirculated (non-proof) coin, but stated in the description they were not sure which is was, also adding that it had a special finish.
Does this person know or not know? In any case, our website, from where they stole our photos has a idiot-proof guide to telling the difference!

It is always possible, even likely, that sellers who steal photographs do not own a similar coin, and have the intention to totally defraud potential buyers.
The vendor is not only cheating us by stealing our copyright images, she is fraudulently or ignorantly misleading and deceiving all potential buyers. Gaining pecuniary advantage by deception is the definition of fraud.

Price
The seller was asking a starting price of £300
If it had sold for a sensible price, she would probably get more by selling to us when eBay's new 10% selling fees are taken into account, even ignoring PayPal fees.

Spot the Fraud
We were alerted to this item by an honest eBay member who recognised our photographs. His e-mail to us simply read "Spot the Fraud". Our reply was "Do we laugh or cry?"
The obvious inference from our reporter is that he understood this listing to be fraudulent without any room for doubt. We think he is almost certainly right, but are still naive enough to believe the seller could just be genuine with an actual coin, although it could be a fake. If so, she could almost certainly get a better price for it selling direct to an appropriate dealer, including us, rather than sell it through eBay.

eBay Guilty of Negligence or Complicity
We will be reporting this example of copyright abuse using our standard Statutory Declaration via the eBay VeRO programme, and wait to see if they chose to action or ignore our report. We look forward to taking legal action against eBay for their negligence and / or complicity if they fail to take down the offending material promptly.

We already have a page naming and shaming dealers using our images without permission. It's time we did the same for eBay, although if we include them all, this could be a very long page.
