2003 Guernsey The Trooping The Colour Gold Proof Twenty Five Pounds Coin
In 2003, Guernsey issued a gold proof £25 coin to commemorate the trooping the colour.

The Trooping The Colour
According to the Royal Mint Certificate which accompanies this coin:

'Trooping the Colour' - or 'Lodging the Colour', as it was originally known - dates back to the 17th century. 'Colours' were the distinctive, colourful flags of a regiment - a rallying point in battle and a location marker for a temporary regimental HQ. The colours were regularly trooped in front of the soldiers so they would recognise them in the heat of battle. They became the embodiment of the spirit and tradition of the regiment. By the 18th century the Trooping ceremony was part of the guard mounting procedure on Horse Guards. In 1805 the parade was used for the first time to celebrate the Sovereign's birthday and rapidly became a tradition. It takes place on the Queen's 'official' birthday in June - her actual birthday is on April 21st. Hence the Trooping's other title - the Queen's Birthday Parade. Since 1987 Her majesty has presided over the Trooping ceremony riding in a carriage. Before that she attended 36 Troopings riding sidesaddle, wearing the uniform of the regiment on parade. Over 1400 officers and men are present, with 200 horses, marching to the music provided by 400 musicians. The parade route is from Buckingham Palace, along the Mall to Horse Guards Parade and back again.
