Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee In 2002, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated fifty years on the throne. Countries across the world held celebrations in order mark the event. The coins in this set were issued to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee. Design The Alderney coin features the Raphael Maklouf portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. The reverse shows lions and is part of the shield design. The Guernsey coin has the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of the Queen on the obverse. This replaced the Raphael Maklouf version in 1998.
