1990 Canadian Gold Proof $100 International Literacy Year Commemorative Coin
In 1990 the Canadian Mint issed this coin to commemorate the international literacy Year. The portrays a woman writing syllabic letters with her child. She is wearing a traditional garment called an "amautik" and carries a baby on her back. An inscription meaning "to write" in syllabic writing appears at the top of the coin.
