William Shakespeare was of course, England's greatest ever playwright, responsible for what are widely regarded as some of the greatest works ever written for the theatre in the English Language, including tragedies such as Romeo and Juliet, histories such as Richard III and 'comedies' such as Midsummer Night's Dream.
