sydmoonmonkey of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, United Kingdom, stole our Krugerrand photograph to use on eBay, and tried to tell buyers it was not the same coins he was selling. Totally dishonest.

eBay Copyright Thieves
Many eBay vendors use our coin photographs to sell inferior quality coins on eBay. These eBay members are dishonest and should be avoided.
We believe eBay profits from IP rights infringements (copyright theft), and does so knowingly, only removing infringing items reluctantly, if at all.

This auction is for thsi individual coin, I am selling these family investment coins collection in an attempt to raise capital for a seperate (sic) business venture.

14 Queen Victoria Full Gold (Victoria Old Head 1887 - 1893)
32 Queen Victoria Full Gold Sovereigns (Victoria Old Head 1893 - 1901)
71 Queen Elizabeth Full Gold Sovereigns (1974 - 1996)

What's Wrong?
We invest a great deal of time, effort, and cost into creating some of the best photographic coin and gold bar images on the internet. We strongly object when lazy and dishonest people decide to use them without a by your leave or thanks, doing so in competition with us.
Copyright theft is dishonest. We recommend you avoid doing business with dishonest dealers.
This particular eBay seller not only stole our high quality 1974 Krugerrand Obverse & Reverse Photographs, he used them to try to sell "his" own Krugerrands on eBay. He did not mention to potential buyers that the high quality photographs of the coin were not his own photographs.
It's possible he is ignorant of such fine points, or just plain ignorant.
It is always possible, even likely, that sellers who steal photographs do not own a similar item, and have the intention to totally defraud potential buyers.
The vendor is not only cheating us by stealing our copyright images, he is fraudulently or ignorantly misleading and deceiving all potential buyers. Gaining pecuniary advantage by deception is the definition of fraud.
One Day Sale - Dodgy?
eBay have a link on their site about when to use a 1 day listing, we think it should say when you have nicked the stuff, and are trying to fence it quickly before the police see it and come round to your house.
While our thoughts and comments about this may be slightly facetious, there remains much more than a grain of truth in them. We would always be very suspicious of one day listings.
In this case, we can be quite certain that sydmoonmonkey has not got this bar, and probably does not own a gold bar at all, we can safely state that we believe he is a fraudster, crook, cheat, but hey that's eBay for you!
Anybody thinking of bidding on this and hoping to get a bargain will probably get ripped off and lose all their money, and probably deserve it for being so greedy.
More Evidence
We, and our competitors buy and sell gold bullion, including sovereigns and Krugerrands, at very competitive prices. The vendor could get very close to intrinsic value, and a buyer could get one for a small premium, without taking any risks buying from obvious crooks on eBay.
Price
The seller was asking a starting price of £99.99.
This is a silly starting price. The vendor could have savedsome money by starting at £0.99 or used a sensible and realistic starting price.
Second Attempt
Although we reported this crooks first batch listings as copyright infringements, most of them were removed for other reasons, we believe they had been reported as suspicious or fraudulent.
Now, one week later, we notice sydmoonmonkey has relisted his items, this time as 5 day listings.
George VI Sovereigns Various Dates
As far as we wre aware, there is, and always has been, just one date of George VI sovereigns, and that is 1937, the Coronation year, and these were only issued as part of proof sets.
We guess the ignoramus can't tell his V from his VI, as he has used our George V sovereign photographs. Id as we suspect, he does not acutally own any of these gold coins, then we can probably expect errors like this.
If our guess is correct that sydmoonmonkey is a fraudster, then this is a £50,000 attempted fraud!
eBay Guilty of Negligence or Complicity
We will be reporting this example of copyright abuse using our standard Statutory Declaration via the eBay VeRO programme, and wait to see if they chose to action or ignore our report. We look forward to taking legal action against eBay for their negligence and / or complicity if they fail to take down the offending material promptly.
We should probably delay reporting this item until a buyer has sent some money. This may sound cynical of us, but if enough greedy buyers got conned, they might kick up enough fuss, go to the media, and get eBay the publicity it deserves. It is not our job to act as unpaid policemen for eBay.
