Perhaps we should be flattered by the number of people including dealers who continually infringe our IP (Intellectual Property) rights by using our copyright images, but we do not find it amusing, and will take legal action against any copyright thieves.
Marengo Coins of Marengo Illinois (marengocoins.com)
Marengo Coins of Marengo Illinois (marengocoins.com) are just one of the many coin dealers worldwide who commit copyright theft by using our copyright images without our permission.
They have used a number of our high quality copyright coin photographs, to use on their own website in direct competition with us.
On their Gold Bullion page, they have used our high quality copyright photographs of a three gold kilo bars, probably stolen from another dealer who in turn stole it from our website.
On the same page, they have used our US gold buffalo photo, Canadian gold maple leaf reverse photo, 1973 Krugerrand reverse photo, and 1947 Mexican gold 50 pesos photo. There may be more on other pages of their website.
We also noticed our 2007 Canadian One Ounce Silver Maple Leaf photograph on their "Silver" page.
We wonder who they stole the rest of their photographs from?

Where are Marengo Coins?
Marengo claim you can trust them, but they do not even publish their address on their website. OK, somebody living in Illinois might have heard of the place, after all it does have a population of 7,614 so it is clearly a thriving major metropolis. Are they worried that somebody might call and visit them?
When we looked again, they did invite visitors to see their new location, Lindow Plaza, so we guess that some people from as far away as Rockford might know where that is.
We don't know whether Marengo Coins deliberately avoid publishing their address on their website, we believe it's a really dumb thing to do. If you are a reputable, reliable well-established business, and you expect to get business from the internet, then you need to establish confidence in your customers. Being transparent, clearly showing who you are, where you are, what you are, can and should help in this.
If Marengo simply forgot or neglected to include their address, then this is possibly even more stupid than deliberately omitting it.
We suspect it's deliberate, as they also fail to state the name of the actual owners of the business, any BBB registration, and they hide their identity behind a web domain registration service which helps to hide the registrants name and address.

They would obviously prefer you not to know.

Trust?
We could not trust Marengo Coins as far as we could throw them, if we could even find them. By stealing our photographs, they are not only committing copyright abuse, but deceiving any and all web viewers into thinking that Marengo have got, or have had, the products shown in their photographs, and are professional enough to have taken high quality pictures, or employed a professional photographer to do so. None of this appears to be true.
We think they are cheapskates.

We have noticed a significant number of copyright thieves hiding behind organisations designed to help them stay anonymous, like the shady dealers they are.
Domains by Proxy, Inc claims to exist to help individuals from having their names and addresses made public, which we believe is probably fair. Nominet in the UK allow private non-trading individuals to withhold their address details. However, it is obvious that there must be many individuals who wish to avoid publication of their details for other reasons.
There are many reasons we could imagine which would make it desirable for individuals to conceal their identity and whereabouts, including being criminals, terrorists, copyright abusers, child pornographers.
Domains by Proxy appear to be equally happy to protect these undesirable elements of our society. They do publish a "Subpoena Policies" page on their website, which states that they charge the enquirer or complainant for "compliance costs", which we believe could be an attempt to obstruct anybody with legal reasons for wishing to know the identity of domain registrants.
