These 20 Franc coins were minted during the reign of Emperor Napoleon III. These gold coins are the second type of 20 Franc which were issued after Charles Louis Napoleon Bonaparte had been elected Emperor of France. The coins are Our Choice of Date and will be chosen from available stock dated between 1853 - 1860.

The edge is inscribed in raised lettering:

The obverse features a bare-headed portrait of Napoleon III with the inscription:

The engraver's name is in relief below the bust:

The reverse engraving features the value 20 FRANCS and the year date in three lines surrounded by a laurel wreath. Around the outside of the wreath is the inscription:

The mint mark A or BB appears below the wreath. Mint mark A refers to the Paris mint and BB to the Strasbourg mint.
