Perhaps we should be flattered by the number of people including dealers who continually infringe our IP (Intellectual Property) rights by using our copyright images, but we do not find it amusing, and will take legal action against any copyright thieves.

Best Gold Sovereigns, of Killarney, Ireland, are just one of the many coin dealers bloggers & websites worldwide who commit copyright theft by using our copyright images without our permission. On their page site, a page of which we reproduce here, they are clearly using our 1957 sovereign reverse image as part of the logo. This appears on every page of the blog / website.
Best Gold Sovereigns "About Us" Page
W can't find any address on Best Gold Sovereigns' "About Us" page, which is a bad sign. There is only a telephone number and a rather amateurish e-mail address. What's the guy got to hide, and why does he not tell us why he is hiding it?

What's Wrong?
It is dishonest and unethical to pirate and steal other people's work by using high quality copyright photographs without the owner's consent. To do so in competition with them is doubly devious. We can partially understand why they do it; it is quick and easy (but then so is robbing people).
Poor Advice
We regret to say that much of what we saw on the Best Gold Sovereigns website was semi-literate dribble. Most looked as though it had been copied from other sources, but with spelling errors, typo's, syntax and grammatical errors thrown in to fool viewers that the material was original.
The home page contains a leading article:

The best place to buy of course is ebay (sic) (If you look at our eBay pages, you will find many horror stories, and our general advice about buying on eBay is to be very cautious, or better still avoid it.)
However there are a couple of snags to look for there :
Fake coins - usually entered as a single item by a vendor with no previous feedback (or feedback for a few items sold for a dollar or so each)
Con Tricks - usually with similar low or no feedbacks selling rare coins at knockdown prices. One more sign of a dodgy deal is that they almost always want payment by Western Union or another instant money transfer system, - DO NOT DO THIS !
The other bad sign is a Private sale - beware of private sales
(some may be OK - but I would hesitate before bidding myself !)
Private sales do protect your identitiy (sic)
(but sometimes the vendors identitiy (sic) too !)
Gold Bullion sales are usually fine and so are reasonably prices sovereigns.
(Actually one other warning sign is eBay vendors who use stolen images, usually they know very little about sovereigns, and are dishonest enough to omit telling buyers that the mint coin in the photograph is not the same as the grotty one they own. Of course, sometimes they do not even own any coins, and are simply trying to con people into buying non-existent coins).
Our Conclusions & Advice
Avoid dealing with dishonest companies and individuals. If sites like Keith Jones at Best Gold Sovereigns, who tries to create the impression on his website of himself having knowledge and expertise about sovereigns, but one who is dishonest enough to steal our photographs, should you trust him when buying or selling valuable gold or silver coins or bullion? We think not!
Also, should you take any notice of their advice. Again, we would advise against it.
