Australians and New Zealanders are extremely proud of their armed forces whose historic contributions in international military conflict were subject to a 'baptism of fire' at Gallipoli in 1915. Now, 90 years after they landed at ANZAC Cove, The Perth Mint is proud to announce an exclusive numismatic collaboration between Australia and New Zealand in honour of the first major military action fought by the Anzacs
Legal Tender
This Two-Coin Gold Set, part of a magnificent tribute that also includes Silver and Bronze coin sets, comprises an Australian coin issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and a New Zealand coin issued as legal tender under the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Act 1989.
Proof Quality 99.99% Pure Gold
Both coins are struck by The Perth Mint from 1/4oz of 99.99% pure gold in proof quality.
Remembrance Design Theme
The design theme portrayed on both gold coins is 'remembrance'. These designs were finalised only after inspection and approval by the Returned and Services League of Australia and the Royal New Zealand Returned and Services' Association.
The Australian coin depicts a slouch hat resting on a rifle beside a bayonet, symbolising the spot where a soldier fell on Turkish soil. The image, reminiscent of a past ceremonial scene at Gallipoli on ANZAC Day, is portrayed against names of soldiers killed during the fighting. It is surrounded by the inscription AUSTRALIAN AND NEW ZEALAND ARMY CORPS 1915 - 2005.
The New Zealand coin depicts a lone bugler wearing a 'lemon squeezer' hat. At ANZAC Day services in Australia and New Zealand, a lone bugler sounds the Last Post, followed by Reveille. The image is portrayed against names of soldiers killed during the fighting at Gallipoli, and surrounded by the inscriptions REMEMBRANCE 1915 - 2005 and WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
The reverse design of both coins incorporates The Perth Mint's historic 'P' mintmark.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
The obverse of both gold coins depicts Ian Rank-Broadley's effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Stunning Presentation
The two gold coins are housed inside a replica World War I leather ammunition pouch, similar to those worn by Anzac soldiers at Gallipoli to carry rounds for the Short Magazine Lee Enfield rifle. Accompanying the coins is a numbered Certificate of Authenticity, which is illustrated with images from the era and a map of ANZAC Cove. Both items are contained in an outer presentation box featuring a matching design.
Extremely Limited Mintage
The Two-Coin Gold Set is subject to an extremely limited mintage of just 1,000, guaranteeing its future rarity

The memory of the thousands who lost their lives at Gallipoli has never been lost on the peoples of Australia and New Zealand who share 25 April - Anzac Day - as one of the most important national occasions. Now ninety years after they landed at Anzac Cove, the Royal Mint has sourced an exclusive numismatic collaboration between Australia and New Zealand in honour of the first major military action fought by the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.

The underlying bullion value of gold has increased by about 33% between the 2005 average, and the latest price in 2006. We believe this makes our price, as usual, very reasonable.
