2008 Farewell to Britannia Gold Proof Fifty Pence Coin
In 2008 the United Kingdom Royal Mint has issued gold fifty pence coins.
A Farewell to Britannia coin has already been issued as part of a seven coin "Emblems of Britain" collection.
New Design
It has already been announced that all seven of the UK's circulation coin types will have their designs replaced during 2008, which leaves us to believe that there will be another 2008 gold proof fifty pence issued later in the year bearing the new, still to be revealed, design.
Obverse - Fourth Portrait
All British 2008 coins carry the fourth portrait obverse design by Ian Rank-Broadley, except for the £5 crown.
