2005 Canadian $350 Proof - Saskatchewan - Wild Rose

The World's Purest Gold Coins
Please see our separate page for a description and brief history of the $350 gold series.

Half Price - Save £475 Per Coin!
One of our UK "competitors" charges £950 each for these coins. We think this is very expensive, but occasionally we can offer "secondhand" specimens at considerable savings as usual. This same competitor informs us that the issue limit for 2001 is 2,000 pieces, whereas the correct figure is actually 2,001 pieces, only a small discrepancy, but demonstrating their usual standard of accuracy and attention to detail nevertheless.

The Wild Rose - Saskatchewan Province
The designs celebrate Canada's provincial flowers. Each year the design on these coins changes, the 2005 coin features the western red lily which was adopted as Saskatchewan's floral emblem in 1941. According to the Canadian Royal Mint:-

The Western Red Lily
Also known as the Prairie Lily, the Western Red Lily (Lilium Philadelphicum var. andinum) was once abundant from Ontario to British Columbia. Unfortunately, urban development has claimed the meadows, thickets and semi-wooded areas where this flower thrives. Its large, flaming blooms often prove irresistible and those who pick them rob this plant of the nutrients it needs to bloom the following year. Canada's aboriginal people used the Western Red Lily as a poultice to soothe bruises and wounds; as a tea to treat a variety of ailments; and as an excellent substitute for potato. A protected species, the Western Red Lily was adopted as Saskatchewan's floral emblem in 1941.

The Coin
Designed by Canadian botanical illustrator Dr. A.K. Hellum, this gold coin is 99.999% pure, the highest standard of fine gold available in the world. It measures 34 millimetres and weighs 38.05 grams and has a face value of $350 Canadian. The obverse side of the coin features an Effigy of Her Majesty Queen elizabeth II by artist Dora de P&eactue;dery-Hunt.

Certificate of Authenticity
This 2005 gold coin was authorised by the government of Canada. It is proof quality and was expertly struck by the Royal Canadian Mint with a limited mintage of 2,005 coins wordwide.
Printed on unique handmade pure cotton paper inlaid with petals from the Orange Hawkweed flower.

Half Price Bargains
The "official UK distributor" mentioned above sells these coins new at £950, but does allow you to pay in 10 "easy" payments of £95 each. We think our pricing structure is far kinder to our customers, at exactly half the original price, and what's more we let you pay in one easy instalment of only £475!. This pricing applies to "older" coins which we have sourced in the secondary market, "new" ones may be more.
For a number of years we had been trying to discover the original issue price from the Royal Canadian Mint. At last, we have found out, the 2005 issue is $1,300 CAN, working out at only about £560. This surprised us, although perhaps it shouldn't have done, because of the pricing from the above mentioned UK distributor.
We also found out:-

Struck to a made-to-order mintage of a maximum of 2,005 coins worldwide
- Deadline for orders is February 25, 2005
- Shipping begins in April 2005
