In 2002 the British Royal Mint issued a gold sovereign for the Golden Jubilee, this coin is housed in a presentation card with first day cover.

Golden Jubilee Design
The shield reverse was last used for Queen Victoria from 1838 to 1893 inclusive. It is perhaps fitting, then, that the Royal Mint have chosen not only to change the sovereign design for our own queen's golden jubilee, but also to revert back to the shield design.
