Buyers Snap Up Old Money Eurozone countries have been issuing special "last edition" coins, including gold coins to celebrate or commemorate the ending of their old monetary systems and the introduction of the Euro. Both Germany and France have issued respectively the "last mark" and "last franc". Both sold out very quickly, the German coin sold out its entire issue of 1 million within an hour of its release, according to press reports. We only heard about it for the first time the day after!
