Buyers Snap Up Old Money
Eurozone countries have been issuing special "last edition" coins, including gold coins to celebrate or commemorate the ending of their old monetary systems and the introduction of the Euro. Both Germany and France have issued respectively the "last mark" and "last franc". Both sold out very quickly, the German coin sold out its entire issue of 1 million within an hour of its release, according to press reports. We only heard about it for the first time the day after!
Netherlands
The Netherlands is to release a "last guilder" in gold. This time we have managed to get a small advance allocation.
Other Countries
We have not heard about any "final edition" gold coins from any of the other nine Eurozone members, but this does not mean that none of them have or will be issuing any, but most of the world's mints are not brilliant at communicating their plans with the rest of the world. We will add brief information here about any more we hear about.
