1967 700th Anniversary of Houses of Parliament Medallions
A set of three Medallions in Bronze, Silver and Gold commemorating the 700th anniversary of the Houses of Parliament. For some reason, Winston Churchill is depicted on the other side, rather than Simon de Montfort, who one might have thought had a more important role in the history of Parliamentarianism in England than Churchill. Perhaps the recent death of Churchill at the time this medallion was produced had something to do with the choice to depict him on the obverse. Nevertheless, this is a nice, prooflike set and an interesting addition to any collector of Churchilliana.
Obverse
It is a magnificent medallion with a facing portrait of Churchill in high relief. Most coins and medals make use of profile portraiture, as "facing" portraits are difficult to execute successfully.

The reverse design shows the Houses of Parliament with the inscription:-
