Gold Medallions - Commemorating the Great Fire and Blitz of London
The Great Fire took place in September 1666 and lasted for three days. It consumed 13,200 houses, 87 parish churches, St. Paul's Cathedral and most of the buildings of the City authorities.
It caused overwelming destruction and devistation to the majority of London's habitants.
The Blitz took place between 7th September 1940 and 10th May 1941. More than one million London houses were destroyed or damaged, and more than 40,000 civilians were killed, half of them in London.
