1911 George V British Gold £5 Coins
Although George V aceeded to the British throne on 6th May 1910, the first year of his coinage was 1911. Gold five pound coins (quintuple sovereigns) were issued in proof versions, as part of 12-coin sets. The mintage figure was much lower than that for Edward VII in 1902.

Five Pounds History
The first gold quintuple sovereign (£5 coin), was issued in 1820, and is considered by some to be be a pattern coin. In 1826 and 1839, proofs were issued as part of complete proof coin sets, and this also occurred in 1902, 1911, and 1937.
Only in 1887, 1893, and 1902 were ordinary circulation types issued in addition to proof versions.
1911 Gold Five Pounds
The 1911gold five pounds was only issued in a proof version, and was only available as part of the "long" gold proof set, the "short" set being only from sovereign downwards.
